2010 NEWSPlaying many 'Second Saturdays' with Commodore Callahan -- in April we hit the road and made it through literally thirty five cities, singing all the way through... we also played at a legal conference in San Francisco (we got them singing 'Such a Crime' - they were really good sports about it!). I'm also playing with the NASA AMES Big Band, the Burlingame United Methodist Church's alternative worship rock'n'roll band Healing Stream, and others. A recent gig with the band Crosswinds garnered this praise: You were a hit on Saturday night. Thanks for making me proud of the band that I picked! You are great at playing to the crowd and making dancing fun. Hope you got to enjoy that couple that were such good dancers. I keep hearing how much people enjoyed the party, music and theme while raising money for a good cause... The Director [of Catering and Special Events] was impressed with your performance and asked to have your contact info sent... thought you would be great for an upcoming Club Party... that's a nice compliment! Thanks again to you... It's tough, keeping multiple sites up-to-date with gigs... for band gigs you'll need to look at the particular band site. Hey wait, don't click away... I've got bass tips and old stories.. come back.... or at least check out the elfenworks YouTube channel for our latest sing-along concept piece, Such a Crime! 2008-09 NEWSRecouperation continues, I'm thanking God for miracles, and I'm playing with the NASA AMES Big Band, the Burlingame United Methodist Church's alternative worship rock'n'roll band and a new group, Commodore Callahan. Played the Stanford Center for the Study of Poverty and Inequality opening celebration concert, and a few fundraisers including one Google in 2008 to raise funds for Project Respite, a project dear to the Dalai Lama's heart (a hospital in Bihar India) and another for Boys Hope Girls Hope San Francisco. So thankful, every day, to be back playing! 2007 NEWS
In the Summer of 2007 a motorcycle accident made Don take a short break, and Don is forever thankful to pioneering nerve surgeon Dr. Susan MacKinnon and her team at the Center for Advanced Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis Missouri. No, Don doesn't ride anymore.
